Meadows & Ohly Acquires $122 Million Building Portfolio; Plans $250 Million Additional Investment
Meadows & Ohly, LLC (M&O), an Atlanta-based healthcare real estate firm, has just closed its largest capital markets transaction by purchasing a medical office building portfolio for $122,000,000. M&O has purchased several medical office buildings from Georgia hospitals in recent years and is in discussions to acquire more hospital-owned buildings. M&O has immediate access to $250,000,000 in private equity, non-Wall-Street-related capital, with opportunities for physician-tenant investment in the assets as well. The $122,000,000 portfolio was purchased from Novant Health of North Carolina and consists of 650,000 square feet in five medical office buildings on three hospital campuses located in the Charlotte, NC area. Novant conducted a national search before selecting Meadows & Ohly as its healthcare real estate partner. "We received bids on the buildings from 18 different groups and selected 3 finalists for on-site interviews with senior leadership. Meadows and Ohly emerged as the clear choice to be our new partner due to their focus on tenant satisfaction," said Carl Armato, CEO and President, Presbyterian Healthcare, a division of Novant Health. Novant decided to sell the buildings to focus their resources on healthcare delivery and enhance tenant satisfaction. Meadows & Ohly’s expertise in developing strong relationships with physicians and record of client satisfaction underpinned Novant’s goals. Armato stated, "It’s important that we concentrate on our mission of providing excellent patient care, while maintaining control over what is going on in our buildings on our campus." "We look forward to a long-term relationship with Novant and their physicians," said Tom Rhodes, Principal with Meadows & Ohly. "Our role is to provide a comfortable, convenient building for the patients and an environment conducive for physicians to practice first-class medicine.
